Southern California Ballet (SCB) offers the highest quality education to a diverse group of dancers that include a well-rounded curriculum of learning in all genres of dance, based in a foundation rooted in classical ballet that adheres to the syllabus of the Cecchetti Method.
SCB's goal is to graduate and produce well respected, well-adjusted learners who will be successful in all aspects of life and in all endeavours they choose regardless of a professional dance career or not.

Originally named Black Mountain Dance Centre, SCB was established in 1983 by Sylvia Palmer and her husband Mark Zetler. Through the encouragement of parents and supporters they formed the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization Black Mountain Dance Foundation in 1985. Over the years, the studio and it's affiliated ballet company and academy earned a reputation as San Diego's premier youth ballet company and proudly maintains that status today! Notable Alumni: * Melissa Cabrera – Joffrey Ballet * Corina Gill – Soloist, Boston Ballet * Martha Leebolt – Premier dancer, Northern Ballet, Leeds, England. 2011 Winner of Top Performer in England in Classical Ballet. * Sharon Teague – First Soloist, Houston Ballet; Artistic Director, Missouri City Ballet * Victor Wisehart – Broadway “West Side Story”, “The Jungle Book”, “An American in Paris”
